£75 Raised for Barnardo's Charity

Picture
A stalwart group of AMOS members braved the cold on Saturday to sing Christmas Carols at The Fairground Craft & Design Centre in Weyhill. Despite the arctic conditions we managed to sing a full repetoire of festive songs to shoppers as they browsed the Fairgrounds workshops.
Wendy Atkinson, Administrator at the Centre rewarded us for our efforts with a cheque for £75 for Barnardo's.

Carol Singing

Picture
The first of our Carol Singing sessions will be this coming Saturday 27th November at The Fairground Craft & Design Centre in Weyhill.
We will be singing in the lower barn between 1pm and 3pm. Please come along and support us as we raise money for Barnardos and also have a stroll many the many lovely little shops that the centre has to offer.

Glee announce UK Tour!!!

Picture
American TV series Glee has announced a live concert tour of the UK which will take place next summer.

The cast will perform three dates at London's O2 Arena (25-26 June) and one at Manchester's MEN Arena (22 June) with performances from stars such as Lea Michele and Cory Monteith.

Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday 26 November and will cost between £45 and £55.

Members of the Glee cast have already been on tour in four American cities but organisers say the UK shows will be a new production.

The show will feature songs from the Emmy award-winning programme including Empire State of Mind, Toxic, My Life Would Suck Without You and series anthem, the Journey cover Don't Stop Believin'.

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy said: "We had such a great time putting together last year's shows and the response from the fans was incredible.

"People around the world want to see our cast live and in person, so this European tour is our way of thanking them for the unbelievable way they've embraced our little show.

Cory Monteith, who plays Finn in Glee, says he's raring to go. "We had so much fun on tour last year that we were all itching to do it again," he said. "The fact that we're going to Europe to play arenas is mind blowing. This show has been quite a ride."

Dates are as follows:
Manchester - MEN Arena (22 June)
Manchester - MEN Arena (23 June)
London - O2 Arena (25 June) Matinee and main performance
London - O2 Arena (26 June)

Italian Passion in Nine - The Musical

Picture
As part of my research for the next AMOS musical, this weekend I had the priviledge of seeing Mayhem Musical Theatre Companys production of the spectacular award winning Broadway smash 'NINE' at the Arthur Cotterell Theatre, Kingston Upon Thames.

Recently released as a movie starring Daniel Day Lewis, Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz, the musical NINE follows the story of Guido Contini, a self-centred, egotistical and womanising Italian movie director in the midst of a personal and creative crisis.

With only one week before shooting begins on his latest epic production, and no script in sight, Guido frantically struggles for inspiration whilst juggling the numerous women in his life; including his devoted wife, his mistress, his muse, and his incessant producer. As his present world collides with voices from his past, and his professional dilemmas begin to tear apart his personal life, Guido must desperately find a balance between his artistic integrity and his obsessive desires.

NINE is a daring, provocative and passionate musical brimming with love, lust, sumptuous wit and humour. A fantastic night’s entertainment – with the general theme being “Live today as if it may become your last!”

The show was fantastic, so good I forgot I was watching an amateur production. Guido was convincingly played by the handsome and charming Antonello Caboni, whileChrissy Quinn sparkled as Carla.

The Likes of Us

Picture
Rehearsals are in full swing for The Likes of Us!
We are making good progress having covered the majority of the chorus numbers, and I am told that the principles are doing well too.

We have been having a lot of fun in rehearsals with Joe trying to teach us his choreography for 'A Cup of Tea', I tell you dancing with tea cups is not easy, especially when we have to play the spoons at the same time.
Everyone is taking on the challenge with relish and there have been lots of giggles. Carol is doing a great job with Directing, it going to be a sure fire hit!

Tickets are on sale now from The Lights 01264 368368

Exciting plans for 2011

We have a secret! We, the committee, had a very productive meeting last night and made some very exciting plans for 2011.
We can't say too much at the moment, but we hope that it will be a giant step in the right direction for AMOS.

More news coming soon!

The Likes of Us Auditions

As I was not auditioning for The Likes of Us, it made a nice change to relax while watching my comrades sing their hearts out for their desired parts! It was a very enjoyable afternoon and a big well done to everyone who gave it a go. I can only imagine how hard it will be for the judging panel to reach their final cast decision.

A full cast list will be posted as soon as parts have been announced.

Bye for now
