31/3/2010 Post Title.![]() It's A Showstopper is Andover Sound, The Lights and Andover Carnival's search for the next star of musical theatre here in North West Hampshire... A brand new talent competition has been launched with the aim of searching for a star of musical theatre. It's called 'It's a Showstopper' and has been organised by the Lights, the Andover Carnival and Andover Sound. Heather Whittam is one of the judges and explains what she'll be looking for: "It doesn't have to be a solo, it can be a dance group or a duo - it might be quite nice to have a female and male duo. "We're looking for someone who's just got that special quality, someone who really has that stage presence to bring out the essense of musical theatre really. The winner of the grand final will get to perform at the Christmas Lights Switch-on and at the Andover Carnival which takes place on Sunday 18th July. As my character doesn't appear until the end of the first act, I haven't been to many full chorus rehearsals, but last night we had singing practice for the whole cast and it was brilliant! I thoroughly enjoyed it - singing four part harmony with a room full of people and a piano is just fantastic fun! The best part though, was listening to our male chorus, which for this production is made up of, wait for it.... nine men!!! Boosted in numbers by new members Scott Goodair, Rob Talbot and Jason Davenhill, and with the return of John Parker, the mens chorus sounded just lovely. An am dram society can never have too many men though, so if you or anyone you know might like to join us - get in touch! |
