Introduction to Jekyll & Hyde

Picture
Director Claire Nias will be introducing her vision for our production of Jekyll & Hyde on Tuesday 8th May. This session is really important if you are interested in taking part as all the audition cuts etc will be given out.

Pre-audition rehearsals will then take place on Thursday 10th May, Tuesday 15th May and Thursday 17th May. These will be run with time-slots so you will need to complete an 'Audition Slip' to let Denyse Coles know if you are auditioning and she will schedule rehearsal time for everyone.

There will be special rehearsal for the whole chorus on Thursday 15th from 7.30-8.30 so  Musical Director Neil Streeter can introduce some of the music.

The auditions will take place on Tuesday 22 May.

We were really pleased to see a number of newcomers who we hope will audition to join us, if not auditioning for lead roles! Louise presented the draft ideas for the set design, while Carol played some of the songs from the show and explained the audition process. There was definitely a buzz of excitement in the room about this show!

Children’s Auditions for "White Christmas" at The Mayflower Southampton

Picture
The wonderfully festive seasonal musical Irving Berlin’s White Christmas The Musical comes to The Mayflower, Southampton from 11th to 26th November 2011 and the producers are looking for 2 girls to alternately play the part of Susan, the General’s grand-daughter!

On Saturday 3rd September, the production team of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas The Musical will be at Oceana, West Quay Road, Southampton, holding auditions for their glittery, greeting card of a show! Two girls will be required to rehearse in London for the part of Susan and perform during the run at The Mayflower, Southampton and The Grand Canal Theatre, Dublin and be available between mid-October 2011 and Saturday 7th January 2012.

The production requires 2 girls aged between 8 – 12 years old, strictly no more than 5 ft tall and with no fixed braces. They will need to be undeveloped, with an excellent belt voice have the ability to move well and speak in an American accent. All children must live within commutable distance of The Mayflower, Southampton, have a passport and be prepared to travel, stay and perform in Dublin.

Children will be required to sing and are advised to wear comfortable clothing and to bring a passport sized photograph along to the audition.

Children will be seen strictly in the order in which they arrive and only a limited number of children will be able to be seen on the day, as the auditions MUST be completed by 3pm.

If your child was born to perform and would be suitable, then come along to Oceana on Saturday 3rd September at 9.30am.

AMOS secure license to perform - THE SOUND OF MUSIC!!!

Picture
We are very excited to announce that our application has just been approved to perform The Sound of Music!

The show will hit the stage at The Lights in April 2012.

Following an incredibly successful run in the West End and on tour in the UK, Rogers and Hammersteins 'The Sound of Music' has finally been released for amateur societies, so we were quick to secure our licence.

A family favourite, this much-loved has been voted the most popular musical of all time! We are very much looking forward to staging it as it has a bit of everything - war, love, nuns and children! We plan to have two teams of children for this production and like we did for 'The King And I' we will hold a free workshop and open auditions from which we will make our selection.

More information will be coming soon so watch this space!

The Likes of Us Auditions

As I was not auditioning for The Likes of Us, it made a nice change to relax while watching my comrades sing their hearts out for their desired parts! It was a very enjoyable afternoon and a big well done to everyone who gave it a go. I can only imagine how hard it will be for the judging panel to reach their final cast decision.

A full cast list will be posted as soon as parts have been announced.

Bye for now
