Southern Daily Echo Review - Jekyll & Hyde

Picture
Billed as the ‘Most Frightful Musical since Sweeney Todd’, this production certainly did what it said on the tin, featuring impressively-staged stabbings, slashed jugulars and gunshots.

RL Stevenson’s classic Victorian novel, rewritten for the stage by Leslie Bricusse, tells the tale of what we now call a ‘mad scientist’ whose experiments create a malevolent alter-ego.

This Company is blessed with three exceptionally gifted performers who carried the show magnificently; Paul Marsh was superb in the title roles, Carol Robinson displayed real emotion as tart-with-a-heart Lucy and Becky Ranger (sic - Rungen) was positively luminous as Emma. Both girls sang beautifully and their duet was the highlight of the show. The set was well constructed, props were skilfully manoeuvred, costumes, lighting and sound were excellent and Neil Streeter’s musicians provided fine accompaniment, although the keyboards were often too loud.

Director Claire Nias also assembled a chorus to die for – and many of them did!

Introduction to Jekyll & Hyde

Picture
Director Claire Nias will be introducing her vision for our production of Jekyll & Hyde on Tuesday 8th May. This session is really important if you are interested in taking part as all the audition cuts etc will be given out.

Pre-audition rehearsals will then take place on Thursday 10th May, Tuesday 15th May and Thursday 17th May. These will be run with time-slots so you will need to complete an 'Audition Slip' to let Denyse Coles know if you are auditioning and she will schedule rehearsal time for everyone.

There will be special rehearsal for the whole chorus on Thursday 15th from 7.30-8.30 so  Musical Director Neil Streeter can introduce some of the music.

The auditions will take place on Tuesday 22 May.

If you are looking to join us for this production, please contact our Membership Manager Ann Sinclair by email [email protected]

AMOS to perform Jekyll & Hyde - October 2012

Picture
Yet another future show booked!

With the rules for booking show becoming ever tighter, we have had to move quickly to apply for shows we wish to perform in the future, so it is with great pleasure that we announce we have been granted the rights to perform a ground-breaking new musical for AMOS - 'Jekyll & Hyde'

This dark and somewhat sinister new musical is a step in a different direction for AMOS as never before have we staged something quite so dark and scary!

But be assured that this is one hell of a production. The story is as gripping as it is moving, and the musical numbers are spine-tingling fantastic, with a hint of Les Miserables about the chorus pieces and some rousing solo songs.

Opening night is Halloween 31st Octber 2012, so put a note in your diary for a thrilling night of entertainment!
