23/11/2011 The Sound of Music - Launch!Director Carol Robinson presented her vision for our production of The Sound of Music to an eager crowd of would-be cast members on Tuesday 15th November. We were really pleased to see a number of newcomers who we hope will audition to join us, if not auditioning for lead roles! Louise presented the draft ideas for the set design, while Carol played some of the songs from the show and explained the audition process. There was definitely a buzz of excitement in the room about this show!
Adult auditions will take place on Sunday 27th November from 2.30pm at St Michaels Church Hall, Colebrook Way, Andover. Childrens auditions will take place on Sunday 4th December from 2.30pm at St Michaels Church Hall, Colebrook Way, Andover. Please note that Children must pre-register for the auditions via the form on the website CLICK HERE STOP PRESS!!!! The performance of Strictly Musicals on Friday 11th November is SOLD OUT!!! We have sold over 230 tickets for tonights performance! This is absolutely unprecedented for a concert as in the past they have not sold so well so word has obviously spread from last night, what a brilliant show it is! We're very excited to be performing to a full house. Photos of the production will be uploaded as soon as possible, meanwhile, take a look at our facebook page for all the latest information! 10/11/2011 Strictly Musicals 1st Night Reviews...Opening night could not have gone any better, with only a few gaps in the audience, Strictly Musicals was very well received and early reviews are extremely positive of our new image and new direction! We have sold over 100 tickets in the last 4 days, so the remaining performances are set to be busy, and the show a great success overall! Test Valley Mayor Cllr Zilliah Brooks was in attendance and commented that she "Thoroughly enjoyed the show". Here a a few other comments overheard in the foyer.... "Strictly Musicals is the best concert I have ever seen the society perform" "Andover Musical Theatre Company have really upped their game - that was amazing!" "What a fantastic evening, the solo songs were spectacular, and the chorus numbers brilliantly entertaining" "Loved it" "Could have been watching a professional show - it was THAT good" "Costumes, lighting and of course the music were brilliant!" 8/11/2011 CHRISTMAS QUIZ NIGHTJoin us for an evening of festive fundraising at our Christmas Quiz! You are invited to bring your friends (max 6 per team) for a buffet dinner of Curry or Chilli and a fun-filled quiz night. As ever it is set to be a brilliant night with Nikki and Martin as Quiz Masters. Tickets are £6 per person to include the buffet (Bring your own drinks) See Nikki or Martin Noke for tickets. Proceeds will go to our charity development fund. 8/11/2011 THANK YOU TO BARTON STACEY VIPsThank you to Ian Dewey at Barton Stacey VIPs for lending us their radio microphones to use in our production of Strictly Musicals. Ian was only to happy to assist Andover Musical Theatre Company, as Louise Ellison helped the group out earlier this year, by doing the stage make-up for the beast in their production of Disney's Beauty and The Beast. He said, "Louise stepped in at the last minute to help us with the Beasts make-up as our usual make-up lady was taken ill. The make-up, which included prosthetics, looked fantastic and we were really thankful to Lou for helping us!" The Barton Stacey Village Independent Players (VIPs) perform plays and musicals in Barton Stacey All Saints Church. The group will be performing a the world premier of a new musical version of Peter Pan in December 2011. 8/11/2011 STRICTLY MUSICALS - SELLING FAST!Tickets for Strictly Musicals are selling fast now, with just 2 days to go before curtain up, its set to be a big success! This family show features the best of the west end, with songs from award nominated musicals such as Les Miserables, Love Never Dies, Chicago, Legally Blonde, Wicked, Spamalot and Hairspray. Come along and support your local performing arts charity - proceeds from the show will go towards our 2012 production of The Sound of Music - enabling 14 children to take part in the show at absolutely no cost to them. Involvement in theatre has been proven to benefit people of all ages, but expecially children, teaching them communication skills, meeting new people and growing confidence. Childrens auditions for The Sound of Music will take place on Sunday 4th December.
