11/9/2009 Nine - The Musical - Coming soon!This is something I'm very excited about so I had to add it to the news feed! A new musical film with an all-star cast including Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren & Stacy (Fergie) Ferguson!!! Based on the original 1982 Broadway production of “NINE,” with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, (it won five Tony Awards including Best Musical), “NINE” is a vibrant and provocative musical that follows the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren). The film is directed by Rob Marshall the guy who did the film version of "CHICAGO" starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Rennee Zellwegger. We will also include special offers on tickets! 13/7/2009 'SCROOGE' CAST ANNOUNCED!Sunday 12th July was Audition day for our production of Scrooge. There was an excellent turn out and we were particularly pleased with the efforts of some of our newcomers to the society. 16/6/2009 AN INTRODUCTION TO 'SCROOGE'Tonight our Director Will Johnson gave us an introduction to 'Scrooge'. As well as giving us an insight to his plans for the production, he also displayed pictures of his ideas for costuming, presented a scale model of the set and played us some musical numbers. It looks like it is going to be a fun-filled festive show! For your information, Tuesday rehearsals commence on 16th June so we can make a start getting to grips with the music. Those interested in Auditioning for principle roles will have an opportunity to run through the songs with Neil / Roz on Thursdays, starting on the 18th June. Auditions will take place on Sunday 12th July, timings TBC - check back soon for more info. After much deliberation, the Committee has decided Calamity Jane will be our 2010 production. The show be on stage in June 2010.

All three of the nominees had lead roles in our 2008 production - Thoroughly Modern Millie! Louise Ellison has been nominated for 'Best Actress in a Musical' James Quinn has been nominated for 'Best Actor in a Musical' Maria Candy has been nominated for 'Best Supporting Actress in a Musical'. The winners are announced at a glittering Oscars style ceremony at Southampton's St Mary's Stadium on Friday 30th January - fingers crossed!!! CLICK HERE to for more information about the awards. We are pleased to announce that over the last two weekends we have managed to raise over £300 for local charity - Naomi House by entertaining the crowds of Christmas Shoppers in Andover's Chantry Centre with Christmas Carols. Beverley Streets, Office Manager for the Chantry Centre said "Many thanks for your efforts – AMOS are more than welcome to perform in the Centre at any time!". Beverley will present the Naomi House Childrens Hospice with a cheque in the new year. Just 3 days to go until curtain up on The Pajama Game! Today it was all hands on deck for the get-in. Lead by Mac, our burly team of men got to work constructing the set. Ed and Claire got on with the lighting, while in a back room, our trusty Musical Director, Neil Streeter conducted his merry band through the rather interesting Pajama Game score. The cast particularly enjoyed the run-through of Once a Year Day, and even practiced the grand chain - whilst sat down! Good fun had by all, just the tech and the dress rehearsal to go!
